New students with disabilities syllabus statement available

According to federal and state laws, faculty are requested to provide information concerning the Disability Resource Center in every class syllabus each semester at WSU. To make this process easier, the DRC recently revised and shortened a statement that can be used by faculty and staff universitywide.

Faculty need only copy and paste the following statement into each course syllabus they offer:

“Students with Disabilities: I am committed to providing assistance to help you be successful in this course.  Reasonable accommodations are available for students with a documented disability.  Please visit the Disability Resource Center (DRC) during the first two weeks of every semester to seek information or to qualify for accommodations. All accommodations must be approved through the DRC (Admin Annex Bldg, Room 206. Call 509-335-3417 to make an appointment with a disability counselor.”

“Nothing more and nothing less is required,” said Kay Smith, DRC testing coordinator “other than verbal announcements the first week of class by the instructor.”

For more information and to find a clickable link to this syllabus statement, go to the DRC website at www.drc.wsu.edu  or contact Kay Smith, DRC testing coordinator, e-mail: drctest@wsu.edu, phone: 509-335-8079. The DRC is located in the Admin Annex Bldg., Room 206 on the Pullman campus.
