WSU Fills Key Position Serving Multicultural Students

PULLMAN, Wash. – Donna Arnold, academic advisor and coordinator of the Peer Advising Program at Washington State University, has been named Interim Associate Director in the University’s Office of Multicultural Student Services. 

Arnold has worked in WSU’s Student Advising and Learning Center since 1991. Prior to moving to Pullman, she worked in the Office of Minority Affairs at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Arnold’s entire career has been devoted to helping students succeed in the often competitive college environment.  She said she relishes the opportunity to focus her efforts on serving students of color in her new position.

“I’m looking forward to working with such a dedicated team of professionals, on all levels, who are truly committed to diversity and equity for all,” Arnold said.

Arnold will provide leadership in managing the day-to-day operations of the Multicultural Center, help lead efforts in strategic planning, and coordinate the Multicultural Student Mentor Program.

Multicultural Student Services Director J. Manuel Acevedo said Arnold’s many years of experience in the Student Affairs area make her an excellent fit for the position. 

“I appreciate the enthusiasm and commitment she has shown for this type of work,” he said.  “In working together, there are many opportunities to help make life better for our students.”
