Portland ensemble presents “Merry Wives of Windsor”

VANCOUVER — The Portland Actors Ensemble will offer two performances of Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor” at Washington State
University Vancouver’s Amphitheater, at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 26 and 27. Admission is free.

The group will offer a workshop for young actors at 2 p.m. for children between first and eighth grades. Several children will be invited to join
the performance as fairies who taunt the main character, Falstaff. Costumes will be provided.

The classic comedy performance is one of a series in the ensemble’s summer 2006 tour. Since 1970 the group has been giving free Shakespeare summer performances in area parks. The show moves from park to park each weekend.

“Bring a picnic and bring the family to laugh at the Bard’s not-so-desperate housewives,” said ensemble board member Kelly Burns.
The mission of the Portland Actors Ensemble is to bring financially accessible classical theater to Portland and southwest Washington
communities in a nontraditional environment.

For a list of all six area performances, contact the Portland Actors Ensemble at (503) 467-6573, or visit www.portlandactors.com.
