VANCOUVER – The new Washington State University Vancouver Student Services Center and Firstenburg Student Commons were among the 25 area construction projects given the Top Projects awards by the Vancouver Business Journal.
The awards, announced at a July 20 Vancouver ceremony, recognize the largest area construction projects of the past year, as well as others which help contribute to the local economy.
Estimated cost for the Student Services Center (SSC) and Firstenburg Student Commons (FSC) is $14.6 million. The ground level of the building will house the new Student Resource Center and the relocated Bookstore. The site for the new facility is adjacent to the new Firstenburg Student Commons, overlooking an existing water feature. Construction on the SSC will be completed in the winter of 2007.

The FSC is a renovation and expansion of the existing Bookstore Building. It will provide student oriented space for Student Government, Career Counseling, Outdoor Recreation and a flexible large sized conference room/ student lounge. Site development will include construction of a new arrival plaza between the Student Services Center and the new Firstenburg Student Commons. This building will be open in the Fall of 2007.
