On June 24, Eastlick Storeroom personnel placed an online order that generated Central Store’s one millionth packing slip/invoice. That achievement was recognized on Monday, July 17, when Central Stores hosted a barbeque lunch for Eastlick and it many other customers.
“Although we formally recognized only one department (for the millionth order), Central Stores wants to acknowledge and thank all its customers who have been loyal and supportive for many years,” said Glass. “We appreciate each and one.”
Eastlick Storeroom primarily orders laboratory supplies, office supplies and molecular biology products for several departments and research projects.
Central Stores processes and delivers orders to all WSU locations throughout the state. More that 4,600 items are stocked at the facility. Office supplies, laboratory supplies and molecular biology products constitute the highest volume categories, but a wide variety of others products are stocked. Items can be ordered online electronically and designated for delivery or customer pickup. Central Stores also offers an extensive selection of items that can be special ordered. Both stocked and nonstocked orders are normally delivered the next day.
Currently, the mainframe online ordering system and web site ordering are being combined into a one-stop shopping cart concept which will be housed on the Central Stores web site. Upon completion, the customer will be able to browse, search and order online. These changes, which should be available this fall, will make the ordering process more efficient and effective.
