Faculty Promoted at WSU Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Washington State University has granted tenure and promotion to two faculty members located at WSU Vancouver:  Linda Mabry, Education, was promoted to full professor and Sherie Corley, Human Development, was promoted to senior instructor.

The tenure and promotion process evaluates faculty research, including grants and scholarly publications, as well as the individual’s accomplishments in teaching and service to the discipline, the campus and to the community. These evaluations are conducted by the faculty member’s peers on the Vancouver campus, departmental faculty members from all WSU campuses, the appropriate academic dean, as well as the WSU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Mabry research includes the assessment of student achievement in K-12, evaluation of educational and social programs and qualitative and case study methodology. Her current projects include a study of the implementation and impact of “No Child Left Behind” in two school districts, a study of the “Smaller Learning Communities” program in four high schools, the development of a public statement on educational accountability for the American Evaluation Association and membership on a task force to revise the Standards for Program Evaluation.

Corley is an expert in adult development and learning, gerontology, and resource management.  Recent publication topics include crisis intervention, stress management and independent senior housing. She has served as a member of several organizations including the American Society on Aging, the Association of Gerontology in Higher Education and as a board member of the Oregon Gerontological Association.

WSU Vancouver offers 14 bachelors and nine master’s degrees in more than 35 fields of study. The campus is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205.
