WSU Hosts International Symposium in Memory of Vincent R. Franceschi

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University School of Biological Sciences will host the International Symposium in Memory of Vincent R. Franceschi, “Plant Cell: Structure-Function Relations” June 9 – 10 on the Pullman campus of Washington State University.

The registration deadline is May 10. Participants are invited to submit abstracts for posters.

The symposium is dedicated to the school’s late colleague. In recognition of his multifaceted research, there will be sessions on calcium sequestration and function; plant growth and defense; assimilation, transport and storage; and nutrient and assimilate partitioning. The symposium will include a closing presentation on the Franceschi Legacy. 

Confirmed participants include U.S. and international authorities in each of these areas: Frank Loewus, Andy McCubbin, Harry Horner, Paul Nakata, Todd Kostman, Gayle Volk, Joe Poovaiah, Fred Muehlbauer, Trygve Krekling, Trey Hudgins, Vidya Gupta, Norman Lewis, Simon Chuong, Mechthild Tegeder, Gerry Edwards, Maurice Ku, Wayne Loescher, John Patrick, Tina Offler, Tom Okita, Leon Kochian, Doris Rentsch, Wolf Frommer, and William Lucas.

The symposium is supported by the Office of the Provost, Office of Research, College of Sciences, College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, and School of Biological Sciences.
