Three-day conference highlights leadership

The Western Region Campus Compact Consortium’s Ninth Annual Continuums of Service Conference titled “Engaging Leadership: New Visions, Voices and Models” will be held April 19-21 at the Bellevue DoubleTree Hotel.

The conference is an opportunity for faculty and staff to hear from a variety of speakers, participate in skill-building workshops and network with nearly 500 colleagues from around the country.

Keynote sessions include:

-Jim Kouzes, co-author of The Leadership Challenge and executive fellow of Santa Clara University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, on Wednesday, April 19

-Sharon Daloz Parks, author of Leadership Can Be Taught and Common Fire: Leading Lives of Commitment in a Complex World and associate director of the Whidbey Institute and director of Leadership for the New Commons on Thursday, April 20

-Tania Mitchell, Assistant Professor and Coordinator for Service-Learning Leadership at California State University- Monterey Bay, with student leaders from the western region on Friday, April 21

-Dahlia Asuego, Resident Services Manager for Palolo Valley Homes on Friday, April 21

-Nadinne Cruz as the conference weaver and reflection facilitator

Six full- or half-day pre-conference workshops are also available to participants including:

-Service-Learning and Indigenous Communities Forum
 
-Leadership in a New Key: Developing Leadership through Collaboration across Communities, Campuses and Disciplines
 
-Leading from the Center: Service Learning Professionals Talking Together
 
-Introduction to Service-Learning and Building Effective Community Partnerships

-Building an Engaged Campus: Aligning Professional Development with Institutional Change
