WSU Spokane Faculty Member to Discuss Global Oil Depletion and its Economic Implications

SPOKANE, Wash. – Melissa Ahern, an associate professor in Health Policy and Administration at Washington State University Spokane, will discuss global oil depletion and its potential economic implications at a free public presentation at noon on Feb. 22 in the Phase I Classroom Building Auditorium at 668 North Riverpoint Blvd on the Riverpoint campus.

Ahern’s research presents an opportunity for the community to discuss how a declining oil supply and a growing gap between demand and supply would mean shrinking Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, more unemployment, and more uninsured. This discussion will be further elaborated during a one-day workshop in May entitled “Community Sustainability in an Era of Rising Energy Prices.”
