New Employee Orientation revised and streamlined

The New Employee Orientation program has been revised and expanded to reach more employees on the Pullman campus.  Formerly a monthly four-hour offering, the revised sessions will be two hours long and available on most alternating Mondays throughout 2006.  In addition, to reach employees located at a regional campus, the New Employee Orientation information available on the HRS website has been dramatically enhanced.

The goal of the revised New Employee Orientation program is to answer the most critical questions most new employees have regarding payroll, employment rules, safety, appropriate use of resources, human rights issues, and other key areas.  “Even though these sessions are shorter than in the past,” explains Theresa Elliot-Cheslek, Assistant Director, “they will actually provide more of the information most new employees need to know.  Also, rotating the sessions between morning and afternoon time slots will better accommodate more employees’ work schedules.”

New employees located on the Pullman campus should attend New Employee Orientation and Employee Benefits Orientation.  The schedules and online enrollment for both programs are available through the New Employee Orientation link of the HRS Home Page (www.hrs.wsu.edu).

In addition to the “live” sessions, the HRS New Employee Orientation site provides additional references, resources, and videos to all employees and is available 24/7.  Employees unable to attend the live sessions are encouraged to access this information.

Employees whose work locations are at one of the other regional campuses are encouraged to contact their local HRS office for assistance.  A link to the HRS directory is also available at the New Employee Orientation site.
