WSU Cougar Pride Days 2006 Set for March 22-April 4

PULLMAN, Wash. — Planning is underway for Cougar Pride Days 2006, March 22-April 4, at Washington State University and throughout the city of Pullman.

This is the fifth year of the annual spring event during which university faculty, staff, student and area resident volunteers help make the WSU campus and Pullman more beautiful. Flowers shrubs and trees will be planted, bark mulch spread and litter will be picked up.

WSU President V. Lane Rawlins said, “Through this effort, people work cooperatively to be sure the WSU campus and Pullman community are in tip-top shape. Assuring our facilities and grounds look good is a reflection of the pride we have in our university and where we live.”

According to Pullman Mayor Glenn Johnson, “This is a great way to show how the campus and community can come together to beautify the area. Volunteers make a real difference in the overall appearance of Pullman, and all of us are the benefactors.”

Cougar Pride Days’ opening ceremony is March 22 at Pine Street Plaza, part of the Downtown Pullman Riverwalk. The closing awards ceremony is April 4 on Glenn Terrell Mall or, in the event of bad weather, in the Compton Union Building. Both ceremonies start at 12:15 p.m.
