Floral photographs on display at WSU Vancouver

A collection of floral photography from artist Trish Reynolds will be on display in the Student Services Building gallery at Washington State University Vancouver from November 1, 2005, through January 9, 2006.

The images displayed in the exhibit are inspired by the textures, color combinations, and forms of flowers. Brilliant colors and incredible detail are featured in the images, and, as Reynolds notes, “What I find when I look into the depths of flowers motivates me to capture some of Mother Nature’s finest work and to share it with the rest of the world. It often seems that there is little time to notice, let alone enjoy, these spectacular, ephemeral works of art.”

Reynolds specializes in close-up floral photography and has been active in commercial photography for over 20 years. Her extensive experience as an apprentice with a master photographer early in her career gave her the knowledge to work competently both behind the camera and behind the scenes as a producer of images for print advertising.

Reynolds’ work has been published in a variety of media, including books, magazines, greeting cards and calendars. Some of her wildflower photos are included in a Graphic Arts Center coffee table book titled “Nevada,” published August 2001. Reynolds’ latest book, “Fresh Air in the Attic,” was published in 2004 by West Winds Press and features images of remakes of classic quilts made by the Columbia River Piece Makers Quilt Guild of Columbia County.  In addition, her images are shown at many Northwest galleries and included in several private collections.

Entry to campus exhibits is free. WSU Vancouver galleries are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205. Parking is available at parking meters or in the blue lot for $2.
