“I look at this as a service to the profession. And I’m certainly pleased that colleagues around the country feel confident in my leadership abilities to elect me to office. This honor comes on top of other faculty achievements by members of our department. Bill Lipe was elected president of the Society for American Archaeology in the 1990’s. Tim Kohler just finished a four-year term as American Antiquity editor. This really shows that the anthropology program here at WSU has national recognition,” Andrefsky said.
Andrefsky’s term is for two years as president elect (2006, 2007) and two years as president (2008, 2009).
Andrefsky came to WSU as a faculty member in the Department of Anthropology in 1990. He served as the director of the Center for Northwest Archeology at WSU from 1999-2000 and also served as interim associate dean of the
