The paintings are created using a batik method with hot wax and watercolor. The melted wax is applied with brushes and tjanting tools onto Japanese paper and removed by ironing. The combination of wax, quality paper and watercolors creates unique texture and depth in the painting.
Prior to becoming a full-time artist, Kahn was an educator who held positions in early childhood learning, remedial teaching and community education. She is board president of the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society and is a member of the Northwest Watercolor Society. Her work has been shown locally and nationally in juried shows.
