Volunteers Needed for 2006 WSU Benefit Production of “The Vagina Monologues”

PULLMAN, Wash. — Volunteers are needed to help with the 2006 Washington State University benefit production of “The Vagina Monologues.”

“The Vagina Monologues” is a play based on playwright Eve Ensler’s interviews with more than 200 women about their experiences with sex, violence and life in general. The result is a combination of voices with happy, sad, funny, heartbreaking, empowering and outrageous stories to tell.

The play is performed as part of V-Day, a worldwide effort to stop violence against women through education, awareness and fundraising.

Volunteers plan and produce the entire production. They cast each monologue and work with actresses during rehearsals. Volunteers also organize and coordinate all aspects of advertising, fundraising and performances. Time commitments can vary based on schedule availability. WSU students, staff, faculty and all community members are encouraged to volunteer.

The WSU benefit production of “The Vagina Monologues” is in its fourth year. This year, all three performances sold out, and more than $8,000 was raised to help end violence against women through local, national and international beneficiaries.

The 2006 play performance is set for Feb. 24, 25 and 26.
