WSU Kicks off the “Wear Your Crimson” Campaign

PULLMAN, Wash. – In an effort to add to the Cougar game-day experience, Washington State University has launched the “Wear Your Crimson” campaign with the sale of its fall 2005 game-day shirt.

Game-day shirts are $15 and $10 for WSU students with ID. They are available at all Bookie locations and all campus outlets, including Spokane, Vancouver and Tri-Cities locations and will soon be available online. Shirts will also be available at the Alumni Association pregame rally Sept. 17 in Seattle, when the Cougars take on Grambling State University at Qwest Field (www.wsu.edu/seattle/).

The idea to expand on the game-day “Wear Your Crimson” campaign came to the Alumni Association from 1982 alumnus Glenn Osterhout.

“Traveling to Cougar away games I noticed that many stadiums were filled with their official colors, especially Notre Dame. There is no reason why Cougar fans of all ages can’t turn Martin Stadium into a Sea of Crimson,” said Osterhout, an Alumni Association and Cougar Club member.

The goal of the university wide initiative is to build Cougar spirit, togetherness and tradition, not only for football, but for all Cougar Athletic events throughout the year.

A committee from the WSU Alumni Association, Athletics and University Relations will meet to further develop the initiative to encompass all Cougar sports throughout the year.
