StoryCorps Media Availability Set

PULLMAN, Wash.  — Members of the media will have the opportunity to meet with StoryCorps facilitators and public radio representatives at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 25 at the 400 block of Main Street off Friendship Square in Moscow, Idaho. The StoryCorps Airstream mobile recording booth will be open for tours, and facilitators and public radio representatives will be available.

An opening-day celebration will follow from 5-6:30 p.m. in Friendship Square. Tendekai Kuture and his Moscow marimba band, Sesitshaya, will provide music. Old-fashioned root beer floats, compliments of Licks Unlimited of Pullman and Swire Coca Cola of Lewiston, will also be served.

The specially outfitted StoryCorps Airstream MobileBooth will be parked at the 400 block of Main Street off Friendship Square from Aug. 25 through Sept. 5. While there, it will be used to collect the stories of Palouse residents as part of the program’s cross-country tour. Modeled after the Works Progress Administration projects of the 1930s, StoryCorps will travel to every corner of the United States, instructing and inspiring individuals to record their stories in sound for the Library of Congress.

StoryCorps is the largest oral history project ever undertaken, with more than 2,000 stories already collected from the project’s first year, and plans to collect more than 250,000 interviews over the next decade.
