WSU Vancouver Commencement Slated at the Amphitheater at Clark County

VANCOUVER, Wash. Some 400 of 688 graduating students are expected to receive diplomas at the Washington State University Vancouver spring commencement May 14. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the Amphitheater at Clark County. Some 5,000 guests are expected to attend.

“We are very pleased to be holding graduation at the amphitheater again this year,” said WSU Vancouver Chancellor Hal Dengerink. “Last year, we were able to celebrate graduation out of the rain. The shelter and amenities the amphitheater offers for our graduation make a wonderful day that much better.

“At the amphitheater, everyone is dry; they’re able to hear everything and see what’s going on; there is ample parking. It is a dramatically better experience for everyone,” Dengerink said.

“We’re happy to have WSU Vancouver back this year,” said Jill Callies of the Amphitheater at Clark County. “Eventually, we see a wide range of community activities that could take place here, in addition to our core concert business.”

The Amphitheater at Clark County seats 18,000 guests, with covered seating for 7,800. It is located on the Clark County Fairgrounds one mile north of the point where I-5 and I-205 converge.

WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205. Fifteen bachelor’s degrees and eight master’s degrees in more than 35 fields of study are offered on the campus.
