PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University School of Music and Theatre Arts will present its 15th end-of-semester dance concert entitled “A Dance Extravaganza” on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23.
The event will begin each night at 8 p.m. in Daggy Hall’s Jones Theatre. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for students and children. The Daggy Hall box office hours are 2-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and an hour before each performance.
Some 80 students of all levels of the modern and jazz dance classes auditioned before a panel of judges from the theatre program in order to participate. A variety of dance styles, including ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop and other cultural styles will be represented in the show.
WSU’s Elite Dance Co., a group of 11 of WSU’s best dancers, will perform numbers choreographed by senior instructor of dance and director of the company Phyllis K. Gooden-Young and assistant director for Elite Dance Co. sophomore Theresa Mazzeo.
The dance company was established to promote a higher level of professionalism in the study of dance, create an outlet for students interested in and committed to performing various styles of creative and original works, as well as perform at special events.
