Vancouver artist’s work on display at WSU

The work of Vancouver artist Daniel Ramirez will be on display in the Washington State University Vancouver Student Services Building beginning today (March 25) through April 25.

The exhibit will feature completed works and works in progress.

Ramirez is a self-taught artist and works only with graphite pencil on watercolor paper. One piece of artwork can take up to 800 hours to complete. Ramirez’s style is neoclassical in design and at times inspired by mythology. His detailed work focuses on the human figure, particularly on faces. His work is influenced by artists such as Parrish, Escher and Dali and by the artwork of the Classic Greek, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Upcoming exhibits at WSU Vancouver include artwork by WSU Vancouver students and Hood River, Ore., artist Sorcha Meek.

Entry to the exhibit is free. WSU Vancouver galleries are open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205. Parking is available in the blue lot for $1.75 or at parking meters.
