Still Time to Participate in ‘Coug Day at the Capitol’

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Associated Students of Washington State University is still accepting applications for the ninth annual “Coug Day at the Capitol” trip during Presidents’ Day weekend, Feb 19-20.

The weekend will conclude with a banquet, where state politicians and prominent leaders will be in attendance.

Undergraduate students will have the opportunity to meet with their representatives in Olympia and voice their concerns, as well as attend various workshop seminars that pertain to government practices.

Sponsored by the ASWSU and the Washington Student Lobby, “the purpose of Coug Day is to involve students in the legislative process and for them to learn the basics of how it works,” said Washington Student Lobby chair Heather Guichard.

Guichard said that preferential treatment would be given to those with less political experience because they want to reach out to those who are not aware of the political process.

To be eligible for the trip, students must complete a short application, available on the third floor of the CUB, and return it by the by Friday (Feb. 18). A review committee will then contact those who have been selected to attend. Attendees will pay some meal costs, while accommodation costs will be covered by ASWSU.
