PULLMAN, Wash. — Tickets are on sale for the Jan. 28 performance of “Stand by Your Man: The Tammy Wynette Story” to be performed at 7:30 p.m. in Washington State University’s Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.
Tickets are $20, $15 and $10, with a $5 discount for students. Tickets can be purchased at all TicketsWest outlets, by calling (800) 325-SEAT or online at www.beasley.wsu.edu.
Wynette is remembered for singing about love and pain. She recorded, performed and sometimes wrote many of her greatest hits, including “I Don’t Want to Play House Anymore,” “D-I-V-O-R-C-E,” “Golden Rings” and “Til I Can Make It on My Own,” each in response to events in her often-stormy personal history.
Unlike the successful Patsy Cline musicals, which were mostly samplings of her concerts, “Stand by Your Man” truly is Wynette’s story. This musical chronicles her life and deals with most of her most difficult episodes, including her difficult relationship with her mother, her divorces, addiction to prescription drugs, her illnesses and her famous kidnapping incident.
There are 26 of Wynette hits in this show. Mark St. Germain, award-winning author of “Gifts of the Magi” and the off-Broadway hit “Camping with Henry and Tom,” is the show’s playwright.
