‘Ribbon of Light’ to Increase Breast Cancer Awareness

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University students and community members will gather Monday, Oct. 11, to form a human “Ribbon of Light” in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Cougar Health Awareness Team has organized the Ribbon of Light event to educate community members about breast cancer. Attendees will hold pink glow sticks while standing in the formation of a pink ribbon, the worldwide symbol for breast cancer awareness and breast health.

Everyone is invited to wear pink and participate in the ribbon formation at 6:45 p.m. Monday on Glenn Terrell Mall by the west entrance of the Compton Union Building.

The evening also will include music, refreshments provided by Pullman Memorial Hospital and a brief presentation from WSU faculty member and breast cancer survivor Patricia Sias.

The Ribbon of Light is sponsored nationally by the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. and locally by WSU Health and Wellness Services. For more information, contact Stephanie Dunbar at (509) 335-3251. To learn more about the national Ribbon of Light campaign, visit www.bcrfcure.org/part_cur_esteelauder.html.
