MOSCOW, Idaho — The student to employer ratio will be 15:1 and chances are rosier this year for Washington State University and University of Idaho students to find jobs or internships at the 2004 Career Expo of the Palouse, Wednesday, Sept. 29 in the UI Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center.
“National figures show the job market is on the bounce, and we’re hoping that our eighth annual effort between UI and
Recruiters with information and free gifts will be at booths from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. inside the Kibbie Dome. More than 100 exhibitors will display information about internships, cooperative education, career and graduate school opportunities as well as jobs. The fields include business, hospitality, travel, merchandising, academia, healthcare, natural resources, law enforcement, military, food, agriculture, engineering, communications and more.
Companies returning to this years expo include ARAMARK, American Express Financial Advisors, Battelle, CINTAS Corp., Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Ferguson, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Micron Technology Inc., Verizon Wireless, among others.

Prior to the expo on Sept. 23, 5:30-7 p.m. in the Idaho Commons Clearwater Room, is a “How to be Successful at the Career Expo” workshop, with tips on researching companies, interviews, follow-ups, resumes and more. A speaker from Enterprise Rent-A-Car will provide employers’ perspective. Free pizza will be provided.

The “Be a Star” Etiquette Dinner, from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 28 in the WSU Compton Union Building Ballroom, is sponsored by WSU Career Services and is open to both WSU and UI students interested in learning business protocol, the art of mingling and dining etiquette. Tickets for the three-course meal and commentary are $15 and can be purchased in Room 330 at the Idaho Commons on a first-come, first-served basis; or by registering online at www.careers.wsu.edu. Enterprise Rent-A-Car will sponsor the three-course meal. Representatives from the Boeing Co., Target, Washington Mutual and others will be on hand.
For UI and WSU students who receive requests for interviews, sessions can be scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 in the Kibbie Dome.

WSU Career Services will host an open house Tuesday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in
Mock interviews and one-on-one practice between WSU students and a Career Expo recruiter are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28. Feedback on students’ resumes, appearance, nonverbal communication, delivery and content of their answers will be given. Students can sign up for the 20-minute sessions at www.careers.wsu.edu until Sept. 21. Space is limited.
