WSU Board of Regents to Meet Sept. 10 in Seattle

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Board of Regents of Washington State University will consider the university’s 2005-2007 operating budget request when it meets at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10 in the Vashon Room of the Westin Hotel in Seattle.

In the proposed budget request, WSU joins with the University of Washington in advocating for increased support of the state’s two research universities in their efforts to serve a growing influx of students and to facilitate job-creating research. The proposal from the two universities also includes a research and technology transfer plan designed to encourage economic development by moving university research into the marketplace.

The Washington State Legislature will adopt the state’s biennial budget during its 2005 session.

The regents will consider several land transactions, including the sale of Camp Roger Larson, located near Worley, Idaho; the university’s purchase of three parcels of land at the Spokane Riverpoint campus from Cougar Property Holdings, a non-profit supporting organization of the WSU Foundation, and the sale of Fife Farm in Pierce County.

The regents will consider actions concerning several building projects on the Pullman campus, including the Rotunda Dining Center renovation; a library storage facility; an electrical engineering/mechanical engineering clean room; a central air conditioning system at Commons Hall and a fire suppression and fire alarm system at Cleveland Hall.
