SPOKANE, Wash. — A pharmacy professor at Washington State University Spokane has received recognition for his work with Alzheimer’s disease from a national professional pharmacy journal.
Stephen M. Setter, assistant pharmacotherapy professor at WSU Spokane, was one of four pharmacists recognized by the journal, U.S. Pharmacist, with its third annual Pharmacy Recognition Award for human healthcare. Setter won in the community pharmacy category.
As a recipient of this award, Setter will write a two-page article for the publication on his contributions to improving the quality of care provided to Alzheimer’s patients. In addition to the award, Setter was invited to participate in a weekend conclave on Alzheimer’s disease in
As an expert in geriatrics and aging, Setter, a certified geriatric pharmacist, performs extensive research on health problems found in older adults, including diabetes, osteoporosis and Parkinson’s disease. Setter is the pharmacy consultant for the Inland Northwest Alzheimer’s Association and a former board member. He also serves as the pharmacy consultant to the Spokane Regional Parkinson’s Center.
Named Washington State Pharmacist of the Year in 2001 and a recipient of the WSU Spokane Faculty Excellence Award in 1999, Setter provides WSU Spokane pharmacy students with world-class expertise in pharmacotherapy.
