WSU Stops Accepting Transfer Student Enrollments for Fall 2004

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University this week stopped accepting applications from transfer students seeking to enroll at the Pullman campus for the 2004 fall semester. WSU campuses in Spokane, Vancouver and the Tri-Cities are continuing to accept applications from transfers.

Janet Danley, interim executive director of enrollment services, said the university has received 3,093 applications from undergraduate students seeking to transfer to the Pullman campus this fall. That number is down slightly from last year, when 3,112 transfer students sought to enroll for the fall semester.

“Students who applied before we closed will be fully evaluated and will be notified of their admission status,” Danley said. 

“At this point, 2,335 of this year’s fall semester transfer applicants have been admitted,” she said. That number will continue to change slightly, but we anticipate that approximately 2,400 transfer students will be admitted in time for the 2004 fall semester.”

In the wake of last year’s large freshman class, Pullman administrators in late May stopped accepting applications from incoming freshman for the fall semester. The university plans to admit a class of about 2,950 first-time freshmen this fall, compared to last year’s freshman class of 3,032.

Meanwhile, applications are still being taken for both freshman and transfer enrollments for spring 2005. With the relatively high fall enrollment, however, Danley said the university cannot guarantee that additional enrollments will be accepted at that time. Students who anticipate applying for admission for the 2005 spring semester should submit their materials as soon as possible, she said.
