Residents Warned About Soccer Solicitation

PULLMAN, Wash. — Area residents should be on the lookout for a man soliciting donations while posing as a member of the Washington State University Men’s Soccer Club.

The unidentified man is going to area residents’ homes asking for donations on behalf of the soccer club for a trip to Europe.

A WSU staff member wrote the man a check but felt he seemed suspicious, so she called the university to find out more about the club, said Chris Tapfer, associate director of university recreation.  Tapfer contacted the president of the soccer club, who said the organization was not planning a trip to Europe.

“We don’t have a lot of details at this moment but the police are investigating,” Tapfer said.
