Mark your calendars and plan to get out and enjoy the effort as Cougar Pride Days 2004 kicks off March 29-April 2 on the Washington State University Pullman campus.
This is the third year of the annual spring event, during which university faculty, staff, student and area resident volunteers help make the WSU campus more beautiful. The schedule so far includes:
• Monday, March 29: Noon kickoff event, Terrell Mall or inside CUB if the weather is bad. Also at noon, the WSU Student Alumni Connection will serve birthday cake in the CUB celebrating WSU’s 114th birthday.
• Wednesday, March 31: 10 a.m.-noon, WSU President V. Lane Rawlins will visit Cougar Pride Days project sites to thank volunteers. Sites include Cleveland Hall, French Ad, Johnson Hall, Wegner Hall, the WSU Foundation downtown and others.
• Thursday, April 1: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Representatives of WSU’s Student Alumni Connection will visit Pullman elementary schools to thank students for their participation in Cougar Pride Days.
• Friday, April 2: Noon awards ceremony and closing event, Terrell Mall or inside the CUB if bad weather.

WSU Vancouver will celebrate Cougar Pride Day the afternoon of Friday, April 2, with projects such as:
• washing and waxing car pool vehicles
• fixing up the disc golf course
• picking up along Mill Creek walking trails
• assembling five or six informational kiosks for the Mill Creek interpretive trail.
Faculty, staff and student volunteers from WSU Tri-Cities will plant flowers in the campus’ terrace area, overlooking the Columbia River, on Friday, April 2. On Saturday, April 3, they will clean up litter from a stretch of Highway 240 to Vantage that the campus monitors as part of the national Adopt-a-Highway program.
Spokane plans to take its Cougar pride into the greater community, as well, in the form of charitable endeavors. The Associated Students of WSU Spokane will serve lunch at the Union Gospel Mission on April 10. The Intercollegiate College of Nursing/WSU College of Nursing and WSU Spokane plan to donate toiletries and over-the-counter medications and health supplies to the People’s Clinic and some of the other outreach projects nursing students are working on with homeless patients.
