PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University’s Compton Union Gallery will host “Masks of West Africa: Rites, Rituals, and Remembering” from Monday, Feb. 9, through March 5.
The CUB is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The gallery will be closed Feb. 16 in observance of President’s Day. Admission is free.
The exhibition of African masks and sculptural figures is presented courtesy of the WSU Museum of Anthropology. Each object was designed and created for a unique ritual or spiritual purpose and represents various tribes and cultures from the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Foso (Upper Volta), Cameroon and Sierra Leone.
