Lord of the Rings trio headlines spring films

Fourteen films will be brought to WSU this spring by the Associated Students of Washington State University Student Entertainment Board.

Among those will be all three “Lord of the Rings” films, shown on the same days.

The series will open with the Jack Black comedy, “School of Rock,” on Jan. 23, and conclude with the Julia Roberts hit, “Mona Lisa Smile,” on April 17.

The first two Rings films, “The Fellowship of the Rings” and “The Two Towers,” will feature extended editions. The trilogy will be screened, with intermissions between the films, on the weekend of April 10.

Another highlight will be a Sean Penn tribute on the weekend of March 5. There will be a double feature of the recent Penn films, “Mystic River” and “21 Grams.”

All films are screened in the Compton Union Building Auditorium and are shown at 7 and 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 and 7 p.m. on Sundays. The “Lord of the Rings” engagement will have different times, which are yet to be announced.

Admission is $3 per film and $5 for double features.
