Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition to Open at WSU Oct. 28

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Museum of Art will host the 21st annual Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition from Oct. 28. through Dec. 14.

There will be an opening reception from 6-8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Gallery, across from Martin Stadium on Wilson Road. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

This annual exhibition continues to bring fine art educators — present and past — together to display their impressive and innovative artistic expressions.

Featured artists scheduled are Ryan Belnap, Ross Coates, Jack Dollhausen, Tim Doebler, David Drake, Michelle Forsyth, Jeanne Fulfs, Kevin Haas, Robert Helm, Tamara Helm, Fran Ho, Jo Hockenhull, Leslie Holt, Pamela Lee, Marilyn Lysohir, Casey Shiprek, Patrick Siler, Samantha Stengel-Goetz, Chris Watts, Keith Wells and Lin Xu. These individuals work in wide varieties of style and media, from abstract to realistic and from acrylic to electronic imaging. And, as this exhibit’s traditions dictate, they are brought together to fill the gallery with an always-impressive eclecticism.

Chris Bruce, director of the Museum of Art, said, “The faculty exhibit is a special opportunity for all to see the creativity that stimulates WSU students. This annual show is like the presents under the Christmas tree – you don’t know what the gifts are until you open the gallery door.”

Nowhere else on the Palouse will one find the works of these local artists displayed in one arena, said Anna-Maria Shannon, assistant director for the museum. “This exhibit gives the viewer the opportunity to explore the multi-talented educators who make Washington State University’s Fine Arts Program a world-class teaching facility.”

Funding for the museum exhibitions and programs for the fiscal year is provided by WSU, the Friends of the Museum of Art, WSU Foundation, Samuel H. and Patricia W. Smith Arts Endowment, Richard Weisman, VPLAC, the Museum of Art/WSU Director’s Fund for Excellence and private donors. Visit the WSU Museum of Art Web site at www.wsu.edu/artmuse.
