PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University has an array of activities planned for every dad at this year’s Dad’s Weekend, Oct. 24-26.
The first Dad’s Weekend Motorcycle Exhibit will be from noon–10 p.m. Friday (Oct. 24) at the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum and on Saturday (Oct. 25) from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. A wide array of motorcycles will be on hand for enthusiasts to enjoy. The 20th Annual Winefest will be Friday (Oct. 24) at the Gladish Community Center. The region’s finest wines and an Italian buffet, sponsored by the Old Spaghetti Factory of Spokane, will be offered. There are two sessions available, one from 5-7 p.m. and another from 8-10 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Todd Hall atrium and in the west entrance of the Compton Union Building, by phone at (509) 335-0130 or reserve online at www.cbe.wsu.edu/experience/clubs/winefest/winefest2003.html. Guests must be 21 years of age and older to attend. The event is sponsored by the WSU student hospitality association Sigma Iota.
Controversial writer, director and Academy Award winner Michael Moore will perform at 8 p.m. Friday (Oct. 24) in the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum. Tickets are $10 for all WSU and University of Idaho students and $15 for general admission. With his most recent film, “Bowling for Columbine,” Moore provides a powerful and thought-provoking commentary on America’s culture of guns. At the podium, Moore offers a candid view of the American economic scene and national politics.

A Dad’s Weekend Regency Room dinner buffet will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday (Oct. 24) in the CUB. The dinner menu includes seafood pasta salad, seasonal fresh fruit, crispy herb chicken, marinated beef flank steak, bowtie pasta Alfredo, mixed squash sauté, seasoned rice, assorted desserts and choice of beverage. “A Vocal Extravaganza” will begin at 8 p.m. Friday (Oct. 24) in Bryan Hall Auditorium. The event will showcase six WSU choral ensembles, including the Madrigal Singers, University Singers, Concert Choir, Opera Workshop, VoJazz and Crimson Revue. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (Oct. 22-24) from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. in Kimbrough Hall Lobby or at the door of the event beginning at 6 p.m. in Bryan Hall.

The traditional Dad’s Weekend Breakfast will be from 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. (doors open at 8:15 a.m.) Saturday (Oct. 25) in the CUB Ballroom. Tickets are $10 per person. Guest speakers include WSU President V. Lane Rawlins; Glenn Johnson, the “voice of the Cougars;” and ASWSU President Jesse Aspuria. Butch, mascot of the Cougs, will also be on hand. The No. 6-ranked WSU Cougar football team will go head to head with the Oregon State University Beavers before a sold-out crowd Saturday (Oct. 25) at Martin Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net.
Jay Leno, comedian and late-night TV host, will be a featured performer Saturday evening (Oct. 25). Leno’s performance is set to begin at 8:30 p.m. in Beasley Coliseum. Ticket prices are $31 and $34, depending on seat location. Tickets can be purchased online at beasley.wsu.edu/buytickets. Leno is best known as host of the Emmy Award-winning “Tonight Show” on NBC-TV. After hosting the top-rated program for more than 10 years, critics say Leno has created his own unique style with a combination of humor, talk and entertainment.
