The crush is on: As the $2.4 billion Washington state wine industry harvests this year’s grape crop, Washington State University continues its efforts to grow its teaching, research and extension program in viticulture and enology into a premier national program. The program features $1 million in new funding, five new faculty positions and appointment of a director whose duties will cut across most departments in the College of Agriculture and Home Economics. The director Raymond Folwell can talk about today’s Washington wine industry and what WSU is doing to support it.
