PULLMAN, Wash. — Gail A. Siegel was named the new arts programming coordinator for Campus Involvement at Washington State University, effective Aug. 1.
“The fact that WSU has this position indicates the commitment of the university to arts and culture,” Siegel said. “It is a very important part of residential life to make art available to students. It is a very enriching experience for everybody.”
Among her responsibilities, Siegel will serve as executive secretary for the Visual, Performing and Literary Arts Committee, manager of the Compton Union Building Gallery and coordinator for the Art a lá Carte noon art series.
Siegel, who has been working for more than 10 years at the Prichard Art Gallery at the University of Idaho, is also a painter, an award-winning designer and an art instructor. Some of her work is displayed in permanent gallery collections in Wyoming and Florida, and other paintings have been included in various exhibitions throughout the country.
Siegel replaces Martha Mullen, who recently retired from WSU after more than 30 years working as arts programming coordinator and with ASWSU. “I’ve been told I have small shoes in large tracks, and I hope I will be able to fill those tracks,” Siegel said.
