PULLMAN, Wash. — Dr. Mel Haberman is the new associate director for clinical research with the Cancer Prevention and Research Center at Washington State University.
Haberman began his new duties March 1, and continues to serve as associate dean for research at the Intercollegiate College of Nursing/WSU College of Nursing.
As associate director, Haberman will focus on developing clinical cancer research in and around the Spokane region in collaboration with the Inland Northwest Cancer Research Consortium, a partnership among WSU, Providence Services of Eastern Washington and Empire Health Service.
During his career, Haberman’s research has focused on the quality of life of cancer survivors, long-term quality of life after bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, and the impact of breast cancer on the family. He has consulted nationally and internationally on qualitative research methods, mechanisms for multi-site nursing research, and health-related quality of life research.
The CPRC is a regional center based at WSU. With offices on the Pullman and Spokane campuses, it helps develop basic and clinical research in the region. CPRC’s goal is to bridge the gap between basic research and clinical practice.
