PULLMAN, Wash.- The Washington State University Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers and University Singers will perform at 8 p.m. March 13 in Bryan Hall Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert will open with the Madrigal Singers, a 21-member chamber choir whose performance will include a set of Chinese folk songs written by Chen Yi, a recently featured guest composer at the New Music Festival at WSU. Lori Wiest, faculty member with the WSU School of Music and Theatre Arts, conducts group.
University Singers will perform a set of “Songs of Faith” that feature a famous selection from Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” and the Credo of Haydn’s “Lord Nelson Mass.” The singers are conducted by John Weiss, WSU faculty member, and feature Joe Trudeau on bagpipes, soloist Amanda Watson and pianist Kelly Cornwall.
The Concert Choir will perform a variety of songs throughout the choral program pertaining to the theme “A Change of Season,” including Yi’s “Know You How Many Petals Falling,” a piece she dedicated to the memory of the New York firefighters who died in the 9/11 tragedy.
