Cougars Greet Huskies with Banner

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University will welcome its cross-state rival, the University of Washington, this weekend with a banner that reads: “The Cougars Welcome the Huskies. Rivals on the Field, Partners for the State.” It will be placed at the entrance to Pullman from Highway 195, just down the road from Hawthorne Suites Hotel.

The banner is a key part of WSU President V. Lane Rawlins’ efforts to work with colleagues at the UW to further the cause for funding of higher education in Washington state.

Rawlins worked with former UW President Richard McCormick and continues the effort with Interim President Lee Huntsman to get the word out about the tremendous impact the state’s two research universities have on the quality of life and the economic vitality of the state.
