The Washington State University School of Music and Theatre Arts will present a faculty recital featuring flute instructor Ann Marie Yasinitsky, 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Bryan Hall Theatre. Yasinitsky will be assisted by violinist Meredith Arksey, violist Erich Lear, cellist Eugene Zenzen and pianist Sheila Zilar.
The program will include Mozart#s Quartet in C Major, Gieseking#s Sonatine and Nielson#s Concerto.
Yasinitsky joined the WSU Music faculty in 1991. She teaches flute, directs the WSU Flute Choir and teaches classes in music history and theory. She is featured on the recent CD Solstice Live and is the recipient of numerous awards, including a “Special Commendation” in the Vienna Modern Masters International Recording Competition and a Solo Recitalist Fellowship Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. She can also be heard on recordings released by Vienna Modern Masters, the Musical Heritage Society and Soul Note Records.
She has performed with Gunther Schuller#s New England Ragtime Ensemble and as a flutist with numerous orchestras, including the Spokane Symphony, San Jose Symphony and the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra. She is Principal Flutist with the Washington Idaho Symphony and performs regularly in concerts throughout the region.
The concert will be free of charge.
