Country music, comedy coming to Beasley

Country artist Lila McCann and veteran comedian/actor Dana Carvey will be entertaining at Beasley Coliseum this fall.

McCann will perform Saturday, Oct. 19 at 8:00 p.m. McCann is a Tacoma native and 2000 graduate of Steilacoom High School. Her debut album, released when she was just 15, featured such hits as “Down Came A Blackbird,” and her signature hit, “I Wanna Fall in Love.” The album went platinum, and she received the 1998 Country Radio Music Newcomer of the Year Award.

McCann’s latest CD, “Complete,” is an album of up-tempo tunes that demonstrate her vocal ability and growth as an artist.

All seats are reserved. Tickets are $15 and $12 for all students, and can be purchased at all TicketsWest outlets or by phone at (800) 325-SEAT. For more information, call Beasley Coliseum at 335-3525 or check its website at beasley.wsu.edu.

Emmy-award winning comedian Dana Carvey will be the Dad’s Weekend entertainer this year Nov. 2 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now. Dana will perform “in the round” – four video screens will make every expression, movement and detail of his performance viewable to the audience.

Carvey, born June 2, 1955, in Missoula, Montana, was repertory member of “Saturday Night Live” from 1986 until 1992. He is best known for his characters the Church Lady; Hans, of the Hans and Franz bodybuilding duo; Garth, Wayne Campbell’s (Mike Myers) “excellent co-host” on the immensely popular sketch “Wayne’s World,” and Weekend Update’s Grumpy Old Man.

Carvey has received widespread praise for his uncanny and exaggerated comedic impersonations of such political figures as ex-President George Bush, H. Ross Perot, Jerry Brown, David Duke and Bob Dole. He also does impersonations of George Burns, Johnny Carson, Jimmy Stewart, John McLaughlin, Mickey Rooney, Casey Casem and Regis Philbin.

All tickets are reserved for $28 and $31.
