Hoffman Selected to Build WSU Vancouver Student Services Center

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Hoffman Construction Company of Portland, Ore., has been selected as the general contractor/construction manager for Washington State University Vancouver’s new Student Services Center.

The project includes a new 17,700 square foot two-story building, as well as renovation and expansion of the adjacent bookstore building. The new building will house Student Services staff including admissions, financial aid, registration and career services. The remodeled bookstore will be used for multi-purpose training space. The building is set to open fall 2004, depending upon funding.

Hoffman has considerable experience in the GC/CM field and has completed a number of university projects, including recent projects at Reed College, University of Oregon Law School, Oregon Health Sciences University’s School of Nursing and University of Idaho according to David Smith, assistant director of Capital Planning and Development for WSU Vancouver. This project is Hoffman’s first with WSU.

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership, of Portland, Ore., is currently completing the schematic design for the project. The firm also designed the Firstenburg Family Fountain and the Multimedia Classroom building, WSU Vancouver’s newest facility, which will open in January 2003.
