PULLMAN, Wash. — The Middle Eastern Students Association, an Associated Students of Washington State University organization, will celebrate Middle Eastern Pride Night at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 30 at the Compton Union Building Ballroom.
The festival will feature various performances showcasing the complex and diverse Middle East culture. WSU faculty members, Eyad Masad, Mushtaq Memon, Rand Lewis and Robert Staab will give several speeches, stories and poetry regarding the Middle East. There also will be a Middle Eastern dinner and a performance from belly dancer Sabura.
MESA was founded on the WSU campus in 2001 and is one of three such organizations in the country. MESA’s goal is to create awareness and education of various Middle Eastern countries and cultures.
Advanced tickets are $5 for students and $8 for all others; tickets sold at the event will cost $10 for everyone. Tickets will be sold from noon to 2 p.m., April 23-25, and April 29 and 30.
