PULLMAN, Wash. – “Dancing at Lughnasa” will open at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 11, at Washington State University’s Jones Theatre in Daggy Hall. The play is WSU Theatre’s third main stage show of the season.
“Dancing at Lughnasa” is the story of five unmarried sisters living in the small village of Donegal, Ireland. It is the time of the Lughnasa, a pagan harvest festival of singing and dancing. The story follows Michael, the narrator, and his recollection of the time.
Directed by Chris Burton and WSU professor Terry Converse, the play stars Heather Harper as Maggie, WSU instructor Patrick Ryan Childers as Michael and Professor Emeritus Paul Wadleigh as Jack. Irish playwright Brian Friel wrote the play, which won a 1992 Tony Award for Best Play.
