WSU Student Recreation Center Wins Outstanding Facility Award

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Student Recreation Center won the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association’s Outstanding Indoor Facility Award for 2002.

The SRC was chosen based on unique features and characteristics, architectural design and aesthetics, functionality and the intended purpose of the facility.

The SRC was one of nine indoor facilities chosen this year for the distinctive award.

“You have not only made a significant contribution to your students and your campus; you have also helped to set high standards for others considering construction or renovation,” said Sandi Carlisle, NIRSA Awards Committee Chair.

A profile of the SRC will be featured in the 2003 publication of “The NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facilities” series.

Kathleen Hatch, director of university recreation, will represent the SRC and accept the award along with Yost Grube Hall Architects at the NIRSA National Conference in April.
