VANCOUVER, Wash. — Communications researcher Phillip Thurtle will look at recent developments in animated content for the Internet during a talk, “Your Animated Future: Phenomenology, Comics and Online Scholarship,” at 7 p.m., March 7, in Washington State University Vancouver’s Library, Room 265.
Much of the dynamic and interactive content on the Internet is now animated, including virtual newscasters, online games and sophisticated navigation engines for scientific databases. Thurtle will discuss how understanding comic books and the animation industry in general enriches researchers’ understanding of new virtual experiences on the Internet.
Thurtle is a lecturer for the School of Communications at University of Washington and next fall will join the University of Ottawa’s Mediated Culture program.
