PULLMAN, Wash. A panel of four Washington State University history faculty members will present a women’s history panel discussion at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the Bundy Reading Room of Avery Hall.
Kathryn Meyer, assistant professor, will discuss “Women in the Roman Empire,” exploring women in Ancient Rome.
Candice Goucher, professor for WSU Vancouver, will discuss “Afro-Caribbean Women in Trinidad.” Goucher will present her research on Trinidad and talk about women and the use of African-derived ritual and performance.
Steven Kale, associate professor, will discuss “Women in French Politics in the 19th Century,” looking at the role of salons in the political society of French elites.
Linda Heidenreich, assistant professor, will discuss “Women in Spanish California in the 19th Century.” Heidenreich will tell the legend of “La Llorona Del Norte,” a story about a 19th century soldier’s wife and the life of the working class during that time.
