Jack Johnson With Howie Day Set to Play Feb. 6

PULLMAN, Wash.-Singer/songwriter Jack Johnson will perform with Howie Day at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Washington State University’s Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.

A former surfer, Johnson first debuted his soft vocal styles and folk-like guitar playing in the 1999 album, “Philadelphonic.” Johnson’s musical style is a soulful mix of folk, blues and hip-hop, according to Enjoy Records. Johnson, also an established filmmaker, has since composed and performed the music for his own surf movies, “Thicker Than Water” and “The September Sessions,” which won the Adobe Highlight Awards at the ESPN Film Festival.

Howie Day, a 19-year-old singer/songwriter, will appear with Johnson. Day has performed in more than 200 concerts, opening for acts like Jewel, Eve 6 and Sister Hazel. Day’s solo acoustic guitar style has been compared to artists like Dave Matthews and Duncan Sheik.

The concert is sponsored by the Associated Students of WSU Entertainment.
