VANCOUVER, Wash. — Washington State University Vancouver’s Campus Arts Committee has scheduled a public meeting to pick an artist for a commissioned art piece on Tuesday, Dec. 11. The meeting is set for 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Student Services Building, Room 130.
Community members are invited to join the committee as they view additional slides from the state Artists Resource Bank, selected at the Nov. 16 meeting. These artists are available for commission through the Washington State Arts Commission’s Art in Public Places program. The AIPP is a legislated program that provides half of one percent of state capital projects towards public art works. WSU Vancouver currently has two sculpture AIPP works: “The Wailing Bell” by Wayne Chabre and “As the Eagle Flies,” a tapestry by Cecilia Blomberg.
Following the slide review, the committee will hear any comments from the public, convene a committee meeting and select an artist for the commissioned work.
