WSU Firefighters Return from New York

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University student firefighters Jeff Siemers and Brent Olson have returned from a trip to New York City. The pair spent several days there visiting local fire department personnel and ground zero. They were among a delegation that took locally-raised contributions to a New York fire station. The funds raised will be used to support families of firefighters who died in the Sept. 11 tragedy.

The WSU Fire Department raised the contributions for the NYC firefighters’ families during the Sept. 22 home Cougar football game against California. The WSU firefighters with the help of the WSU women’s rowing team also collected more than 330 symphany cards for the families of the fallen firefighters.
