WSU Mortar Board Receives National Award

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Mortar Board chapter received a national Golden Torch Award.

The award is given to chapters that successfully meet all the chapter standards for the year and excel in scholarship, leadership and service. The award was presented to the 2001 National Conference chapter delegate in Columbus, Ohio, in July.

Mortar Board is a national honor society of college seniors that began in 1918. Membership is based on students’ abilities and achievements in school, leadership and service. The WSU chapter president is Caroline Wright of Pullman.

Only 26 Mortar Board chapters out of 200 nationwide received the award.
